Weinstein makes a point about the origin stories for black Americans and Native Americans and a degree of 'maware' as a part of that in terms of installed culture that serves the interests of "the programmer". Unlike those poor immigrants black Americans were excluded from post WWII prosperity and legal discrimination ended with economic contraction. It's not about leadership, it's about the opportunity that Weinstein mentions. We don't need better leaders, people need more security, autonomy, and agency. The conversation is about 'black ppl' but we're actually discussing the culture of people in that bottom 50%.McWhorter is talking about individuals, I'm talking systemically while being apathetic about the few individuals who won't take advantage of more opportunity.
